Trainee Candidates
You can register to take the selection process test as a trainee candidate, as long as you are at least 13 years old, regardless of your current school year. If you do not yet meet the requirements and wish to take the test in this capacity, please see details.
Clarifications
According to the schedule, the selection process begins one year and ends the following year, as most UWC schools follow the Northern Hemisphere academic calendar (where classes begin in the second semester, in August or September).
In Brazil, applications begin at the end of the first semester or the beginning of the second semester of each year. They must be submitted the year before the expected admission to the schools.
Therefore, applications are submitted at the beginning of this year for admission to the schools in the second semester of the following year (or the first semester of the following year, in the case of Waterford Kamhlaba United World College). To do so, students must be currently enrolled in the equivalent of the first or second year of high school and be at least 15 or at most 18 years old by 31 August of the following year (if applications were submitted this year).
Between 2021 and 2023, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the educational experience of students in Brazil, we exceptionally allowed students from all years of secondary school (traditional, technical, or equivalent, e.g., high school) to participate in the selection process. Beginning with the 2024 selection process, we reintroduced the requirement for candidates to be in their first or second year of high school. UWC Brazil reserves the right to revise the requirements applicable to future editions of the process, as it deems appropriate.
Additional Observations
Brazilians residing abroad
Brazilian students residing abroad may participate in the UWC Brazil selection process, provided they are able to meet all the necessary requirements.
If they are unable to meet these requirements, they can consult the national committee in their country of residence regarding their potential eligibility for the local selection process or apply for places through the Global Selection Programme (GSP), which is conducted in English. Places allocated through this selection process are not eligible for financial assistance.
